Concord, Ontario, Canada, August 24, 2009 – DCL International Inc., is pleased to announce the California Air Resources Board (CARB) has verified the MINE-X SOOTFILTER® diesel particulate filter as a Level 3 Plus system for a wide range of 1996 through 2009 off-road diesel engines rated between 100 and 1000 horsepower. This is the first CARB verification of a passive DPF for off-road engines in the 751 -1000 horsepower range.

“Fleet owners in California have an opportunity to bank a lot of PM reduction credits by retrofitting large off-road engines,” said Joe Aleixo, Technical Manager for DCL. “We felt it was important to provide owners of high value machines with a good retrofit option. That is why we configured our DPF technology to make it scalable for some of the largest machines around. Passive DPF systems do not require downtime to regenerate and that keeps the vehicle productive.”

The MINE-X SOOTFILTER® DPF is a passively regenerating two-stage system, which contains a catalyzed flow-through filter followed by a wall-flow filter. This configuration effectively reduces emissions of diesel particulate matter by at least 85 percent (measured by mass) and is designated as a Level 3 Plus system. The system is also equipped with a backpressure and temperature monitor which is mounted directly in the operator’s cabin. DCL specializes in custom DPF designs that replace original mufflers and unique designs for tightly spaced exhaust systems.
